Aunque parece haber nacido en algún rincón de los Estados Unidos en 1925, Satoshi Hashimoto es un fantástico ilustrador nacido en Yokohama, Japón, en 1971.

Sus elegantes y maravillosas ilustraciones de estilo retro aparecen habitualmente entre las páginas de la revista Monocle, además de en diferentes campañas publicitarias y algún que otro libro.

Although he seems to have been born somewhere in the United States in the late 20′s, Satoshi Hashimoto is a fantastic illustrator born in Yokohama, Japan, in 1971.

His elegant and amazing retro style illustrations are regularly published among the pages of Monocle magazine. In addition, he also works for advertising and has published some illustrated books.

Christine Pym es una ilustradora inglesa que adora leer, escribir y dibujar libros ilustrados.

Le gusta hacer (y comer) galletas de jengibre y disfruta rebuscando en ferias de antigüedades, principalmente objetos que podrían tener una segunda vida en su cada vez menos espacioso escritorio.

Habitualmente trabaja con acuarelas y lápices de colores, aunque también ha estado probando aquí y allá la patata como herramienta de estampación.

Christine Pym is an illustrator based in UK, who loves reading, writing and drawing picture books.

She likes making (and eating) gingerbread and enjoys rummaging through antique fairs, mainly for things that could possibly have a use upon her ever decreasing desk space.

She works in watercolour and pencil crayon mostly, but has been known to use the odd potato here and there for some printing.

La primera galería de Arte Riquiño

Hace unas semanas descubrí un sitio encantador que compartí enseguida con los/as que estáis por Facebook, una pequeña galería repleta de obras de arte originales de numerosos y buenísimos ilustradores o, dicho de otra forma, repleta de maravillosas obras de Arte Riquiño.

Susanita’s Little Gallery es el fantástico proyecto ideado por Susana Rodríguez Escudero, una apasionada y estudiosa del mundo de la ilustración y los dibujos animados. Desde 2011 es la comisaria de esta galería online por la que se han ido sucediendo diversas exposiciones temáticas. Su estreno llegó en Febrero de 2012 con la exposición “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”, en homenaje al libro de Roald Dahl.

En su tienda encontraréis todavía disponibles algunas de las obras que se han ido mostrando desde entonces, además podéis hacer un recorrido por las distintas exposiciones. Y mejor aún, si estáis por Madrid podéis acercaros a ver en directo su última exposición, Sing that movie!, hasta el 21 de abril en el Lunch Box Tiki Room (C/ Barco, 8).

De los beneficios obtenidos por la venta de las distintas obras, al igual que en exposiciones anteriores, se destinará parte a una asociación benéfica relacionada con el mundo de la infancia, en este caso a la asociación ANDA.

I discovered a lovely place a few weeks ago and I shared it with you all via Facebook, it was about an art gallery full of original artworks by very talented illustrators or, in other words, full of Riquiño Art. ‘Riquiño’ is an expression from Galicia to describe something that is nice or cute.

Susanita’s Little Gallery is the great project created by Susana Rodríguez Escudero, an art enthusiast who’s constantly researching into illustration and cartoons world. She runs this online little gallery since 2011.

Its first show was “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”,in 2012 February, a beautiful tribute to the book of Roald Dahl.

Now you can find some great original artworks from the different shows which have been organized since that date in the gallery’s shop, and also you can virtually visit them.

On the other hand, if you are living in Madrid, Spain, you can visit the last show, Sing that movie!, and see each artwork live and direct from now to April 21 in the Lunch Box Tiki Room (C/ Barco, 8).

Each exhibition is dedicated to Children’s Charity, so part of the money that you spend will be donated to one NGO working for children. In this last case it will be for a Spanish association called ANDA.
